Counseling

As a counselor I see myself as a guide. Blending training and skills with inner wisdom and a caring presence, I seek to help people:

  • Better understand patterns in their lives and the reasons behind them
  • Replace rigid conditioning or costly coping behaviors with self-led, conscious actions
  • Heal old wounds, repair parts of themselves or relationships they thought were unfixable
  • Deepen compassion for themselves as an evolving, imperfect human
  • Strengthen self-trust and build the resilience needed to thrive in a beautiful yet highly stress-inducing modern capitalistic world
  • Develop and strengthen skills for living in harmonic relationship with family, friends, and the earth

Therapeutic Approaches

I use a variety of methods depending on the client’s needs and may combine approaches during a single session or over the course of our relationship.

  • The primary therapeutic approach I use is Internal Family Systems (I am Level 1 Trained) because it is so effective and non-pathologizing.
  • I use CBT especially with issues like anxiety to address thoughts and behaviors.
  • I work with emotion focused approaches with couples to help strengthen compassion and connection and get to the roots of conflict or distancing.
  • I turn to mindfulness and body-based approaches to help clients slow down, tune into their mind-body wisdom, and rewire nervous system patterns for greater self-regulation.
  • To help clients build confidence and mastery in changing habits, I also invite role play or in session skills practice so clients can “try on” new behaviors in a safe, low-risk environment.
